Fox and the Hard Day

Apologetics with James and Ruth picture book series

Preschool-3rd Grade

If God is all-good, all-knowing, and all-powerful why is there evil in the world?

Fox and the Hard Day by J.D. Camorlinga's front cover

The problem of evil can be a significant roadblock to believers and nonbelievers alike. Questions that arise from witnessing the pain and suffering in our world can begin to seem insurmountable without proper understanding of the depth of human depravity, the result of free will used wrongly, and the glory that awaits us in heaven. Though there are other well-established defenses of why God allows evil, the free will defense is touched upon in this book.

But one of the main encouragements to any believer observing the amount of evil and pain in the world should be considering the nature of God’s promises for us in heaven.

We pray this story will help you introduce children to the basic grammar of the problem of evil and God’s omnipotence, omniscience, & goodness.

What’s it about?

While James and Ruth talk about their hard day, a cynical fox appears and challenges their belief in God with the problem of evil. How can they believe God is all-good, all-knowing, and all-powerful when there is so much pain and evil in the world?
